Heidi van Veen is a surface designer and textile artist who lives in Hamilton, Ontario. She is a graduate of Sheridan College’s School of Craft and Design where she majored in Textiles. During her studies, she focused on multi-coloured repeat patterns and screen-printing. After completing her diploma, Heidi designed and developed kitchen and tabletop collections for a Canadian home fashions company.
Following 10 years of professional practice Heidi started her home studio called Heidi van Veen Designs. Heidi hand prints her bold, graphic designs onto natural fabrics such as cotton, hemp and linen. These fabrics are then sewn into pouches, pillows, and tote bags. She also creates a line of handmade dolls and accessories using a variety of fabrics such as wool and vintage finds.
Heidi exhibits and sells her work at local craft and design shows. She has had her products featured in several magazines such as Canadian Living, Style at Home, and Canadian House and Home.
